In November 2007, the Dewar Wildlife Trust (DWT), which funds Gorilla Haven, had no choice but to actively ask its supporters and friends for help in funding the future of this project. Click here for details, but know that by giving to Gorilla Haven, your money is maximized in its effectiveness. Unlike other nonprofits, Steuart Dewar and Jane Dewar get no salary from their work helping gorillas .. none. Indeed, there have been years where up to 90% of the revenues that have come into Steuart's computer company, Pimlico Software, have gone solely towards this cause.
Adoptions, special tours or visits, auctions, etc, are all being pursued to raise money, but meanwhile, if you can help in any way, please do so and know it's deeply appreciated..
If you want to donate to one of the many other primate projects that the Dewar Wildlife Trust has supported (and still support whenever possible), you can still send money earmarked for them, and 100% will be forwarded to that organization, as has always been done in the past. But un-specified donations will go into the DWT building and operating funds until further notice. We're showing below what the completion of Gorilla Haven is going to cost.
To Complete Bonz Villa: $100,000
To Complete Pitchou Villa: $200,000
To Complete the Group Building: $800,000
To Fund Operating Costs for One Year: $175,000
To Feed & Care for Joe for One Month: $4,000
To Feed & Care for Oliver for One Month: $3,000
